Ilsington Community Project Update - Shop and Meeting Room

We have now raised nearly £4000 from our community through the sale of shares, slates and donations received.

Building Plans

We have been fortunate enough to secure a grant of £3,834 from Grassroots to put towards the cost of initial plans.  So, with funds in hand, we have canvassed several local firms and are on the verge of appointing an architect to draw up construction drawings outlining the building specifications.  These will then be forwarded to a selection of building firms for tendering - all very exciting stuff!

Sustainable Energy

We are waiting for several quotes on various renewable energy options for the project.

Questionnaire

An important questionnaire will be winging its way into homes in the parish over the next few weeks and we would hugely appreciate it if you could take the time to fill it in and leave it out for collection on the date specified on the form.  Not only will the answers help us to (hopefully!) create the kind of shop people want but proof of widespread local support is absolutely vital when it comes to grant applications - a community project needs a community behind it!  So get your pens out and add your voice to the campaign.

Logo

With the help of the community we have chosen a logo which will be unveiled in the near future.

Fundraising - Ilsington Community Big Fundraising Challenge

Two intrepid local ladies have generously opted to organise a big fund raising event so come take up the challenge on 8th May in support of several local projects - you can take part in either a glorious moorland cycle or a beautiful hike to Houndtor (a shorter route also available) followed by a delicious cream tea or ploughmans in the village hall. You can, of course, avoid any physical exertion whatsoever and head straight for the village hall at 3:00.  There will be stalls with plants, local produce, jams, cakes, children’s clothes, books, toys and much more. Donations of help on the day, produce, cakes, plants etc would be much appreciated.  For further information please contact either Kim Raine (01364-661380) or Claire Nicholls (01364-661249)

We are still looking for some professional help/advice from accountants, fundraisers and solicitors and would be very grateful to hear from you if there are any suitably qualified souls out there willing to give us a bit of time. If so, please contact either Sue Norris on 01364-661128 (suzinorris@hotmail.co.uk) or Alan Hobbs on 01364‑661576.
